APC Tracker is the intelligent software for connecting Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) from APC with Mac computers and servers.
UPS is a large Surge protector that contains a battery to protect your data during a possible Blackout or brownout (a brownout is a mild decrease in the amount of electricity that is being transmitted).
A UPS will switch to internal power, using the battery, when an electrical problem occurs. Your computer will remain operational giving you the time to save your documents and manually shutdown your computer. Moreover, some of these devices remove the manual component and will automatically save and shutdown your computer (or server) if power is not restored within a pre-designated amount of time.
APC Tracker is unique
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) administrators are concerned with protecting servers from utility failures or other unexpected power problems that result in data loss and unplanned downtime.
The APC Tracker Version 4 is the only software on the market that provides monitoring and administrating functions, which are essential for Mac OS X servers (i.e. G5 servers and Xserve).
How APC Tracker works
In the event of a power-outage, the APC Tracker will initiate the proper shut down procedures necessary to protect your data.
Regardless of your APC device being network compatible or not, APC Tracker will easily administrate your APC device from your Mac.
